Unlocking the Secrets of KC Certification for Lithium Batteries

In order to make consumers more aware of the certification logos on the purchased products, and to reduce the burden of certification fees for product manufacturers, Korea's National Standards Institute (KATS) announced on August 20th, 2008 that a new certification system, Korean KC mark certification, would be implemented starting on January 1st, 2009. The plan will be initiated by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy from July 2009 and expand to all departments by the end of 2010. Also, starting from January 1st, 2009, 13 existing certification logos such as eK, KCC, and KPS in Korea have been unified into the KC logo as the national certification logo of the country.

KC certification for lithium battery check

KATS of Korea has announced standards for portable secondary lithium battery packs and lithium cores and has included relevant products under the category of self-declared products in the KC certification system, which officially took effect on July 1st, 2009. The testing of portable secondary lithium battery packs and lithium cores must be done by authorized laboratories in Korea and cannot be transferred to CB reports of IEC62133. After evaluation, a Qualified Declaration of Conformity Certification with a validity of 5 years will be issued, during which no factory inspection is required.
